Nick Mordin betting masterclass
Take a minute to watch one of the great pioneers of modern day betting.
During the 30 years I’ve been working in this business, I’ve been lucky to meet, and subsequently work with, a number of extremely talented people.
The kind of people who helped to define modern day punting – even if some of the younger element might never have heard of them!!
And Nick Mordin is certainly one of these individuals.
A pioneer of betting analysis, a front-runner in system development, and an early influence of mine in the art of being a tipster – more so, an educator.
In Nick’s case this was primarily in the form of his regular column in the Sporting Life Weekender, which highlighted all manner of statistical phenomena, betting quirks, value angles, and often slightly tangential ways of developing your own betting strategies.
Put simply, Nick Mordin was very much an innovator and not an imitator when it comes to the art of betting.
During this time Nick recorded a regular premium rate phoneline (as was the norm in those days)… although being Nick, he still gave out all his bets in under 60 seconds!
He was also the author of several well-read and highly-respected books about betting (and I talk about one here in this previous article).

All I would say is that if you bet, and want to become a better and more successful gambler, then taking a leaf or two out of Nick Mordin’s book – no pun intended! – would be a wise thing to do.
And whilst thinking of Nick (which I’ve done recently as part of the process of re-connecting with a few old contacts in the business) I happened across this wonderful, and rare, video of Nick in action… and I just have to share it with you.
It’s a great illustration of how Mordin thought, and developed his ideas. And how his approach to betting wasn’t, shall we say, conventional!

OPINION: In many ways, this is a free betting webinar. And I do find it fascinating to watch this kind of educational video about betting because, at the end of the day, we all like a flutter… but it’s something which we can always improve. Whether it’s staking, bet selection, in this instance value judgement, there are any number of areas of betting that we can just tighten up a notch or two… and if we do, then our betting will become more profitable. Without question. So do take note of the video, do chase down a copy of one of Nick’s books (like Betting For A Living)… and see if you too can win the odd fluffy bunny or two, next time you go to the fair!
