The man, the myth – “Tracksuit Dave”
Sit back and enjoy a chat with one of the modern day game’s characters
It’s amazing what rabbit holes you can disappear down when looking for things on the internet.
I was in fact trying to track down another pro punter (more of that in due course) when I stumbled across this video on YouTube.
Now over the past three decades I’ve worked with just about every “name” that there is in the betting/tipping world – Coton, Nevison, Veitch, Elliott, Mordin, Mapletoft, Winstanley, Holder, Gorrie, Boyce, Keys, Stafford, McDonnell, Sandrovitch, Sweeney and the list goes on.
Of course, some have been more successful than others!!
In terms of “Tracksuit Dave” – he’s one that I haven’t had the chance to speak with or work with. But I know his name well, as I’m sure you do.
So watching this video gives you a great insight into the man behind the lycra leisurewear.
Here’s sel-confessed bookie basher Dave in conversation with Nick Luck on his excellent “Luck On Sunday” show from Racing TV.
Enjoy…
A dying breed you could say…
Gamblers like Dave Standbridge are few and far between these days.
An old-school punter who bets in cash and gets out on course. Not too many of them around these days!
But whether you’re an occasional backer, or a semi-serious punter, it’s always worth listening to people like this (or reading them, if in print) because they not only educate but entertain.
If there’s any other punters that you want to hear about, by all means get in touch (matthew@matthewwalton.co.uk) and I’ll endeavour to locate some footage.
OPINION: The betting world is full of weird and wonderful characters – and i’ve worked with plenty of them over the years! People who you would be hard pushed to imagine being successful in any other walk of life, but with betting they’ve found their niche. Now not all have made a living from it like “Tracksuit Dave” but those that do give hope to the rest of us!!
